Scholarships Grants

ACADEMIC PRIVILEGES AND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

University Scholarship (100% of tuition fees)

            Grantee must have completed one (1) year residence in UM and has earned 36 units with a general average of 1.5, and no grade below 1.8 in any academic subject.

            The grantee must carry a load not less than 18 units per semester.

College Scholarship (50% of tuition fees)

            Grantee must have completed one (1) year residence at the UM Digos Campus and has earned 36 units with a general average of 1.8, and no grade below 2.5 in any academic subject.

            The grantee must carry a load not less than 18 units per semester.

Academic Scholarships

   Entering College

a)   Valedictorian

Qualification:     Duly certified high school valedictorian of graduating class of 40 or more students.

Duration:            One (1) year, subject to renewal provided the student has no grade below 85% in any subject.

Grant:                 100% tuition fee                          

b)   Salutatorian

 Qualification:     Duly certified high school salutatorian of graduating class of 40 or more students.

Duration:            One (1) year, subject to renewal provided the student has no grade below 85% in any subject.

Grant:                 75% tuition fee

c)      First Honorable Mention

 Qualification:     Duly certified HS first honorable mention of graduating class of 40 or more students.

Duration:            One (1) year, subject to renewal provided the student has no grade below 85% in any subject.

Grant:                 50% tuition only

d)   Second to Fifth Honorable Mentions

 

Qualification:     Duly certified HS 2nd to 5th honorable mention of graduating class of 40 or more students.

Duration:            One (1) year, subject to renewal provided the student has no grade below 85% in any subject.

Grant:                 25% tuition fee

e)      Sixth to Eighth Honorable Mentions

Qualification:     Duly certified HS 6th to 8th honorable mention of graduating class of 40 or more students.

Duration:            One (1) year, subject to renewal provided the student has no grade below 85% in any subject.

Grant:                 10% tuition fee

Student Training Assistance Program (STAP)

            A scholarship privilege of free 100% of tuition fees granted to students under a work-study program for the purpose of training them for future employment in and outside of the School. The scholarship is for a year subject to renewal under such terms and conditions as stipulated in the STAP policies until the scholar completes his academic degree.

    Among the conditions are:

            A satisfactory performance on the job.
            Average grade of 3.0 with no failing or dropped grade.

Band Scholarship

            The scholar should attend band practices and university functions, comply with the qualifications for the membership and the conditions to retain membership.

    Basis: Passing an audition and recommendation by Band Director (40 members and a maximum of 9 majorettes)

    Duration:  The student shall enjoy a one (1) semester scholarship subject to renewal. (Refer to Renewal Policy)

   Grant:              Full Scholar (100% of tuition fee only)

                           Half Scholar (50% of tuition fee only)

Choir Scholarship

            The scholar should attend practices and university functions, comply with the qualifications for the membership and the conditions to retain membership.

    Basis:  Passing an audition and recommendation by Choir Trainer.

    Duration:  The student shall enjoy a one (1) semester scholarship subject to renewal. (Refer to Renewal Policy)

   Grant:              Full Scholar (100% of tuition fee only)

                           Half Scholar (50% of tuition fee only)

Athletic Scholarship

    a. Full scholarship shall be given to regular members of varsity teams who qualified for national meets or tournaments, subject to yearly renewal of privileges.
    “Full scholarship means that the student is exempted from paying Tuition and other charges.”
    b. Free tuition fee privilege for the members of the Varsity teams of local meet category, subject to renewal privileges.
    c. Partial scholarship on tuition fee only for the Athletes on the Varsity level.
    d. Exceptional cases, however, will be treated by a committee on a case-to-case basis.

Presidential Decree No. 451

  Basis:  1) One grantee for every 500 students       in each department

 2) Family income for grantees does not exceed P 60,000.00 a year.

  Duration: One (1) semester, subject to renewal if all grades are passing.

  Grant:                    100% tuition (maximum of 21 units)

Presidential Decree No. 577

Basis: 1) One grantee for every 2,000 students in each program.

2) Recommended by the Office of the Adjutant General (AFGHO).

Duration: One (1) semester, subject to renewal.

Grant: Partial scholarship grant (21units + registration fee)

PNP Law Scholarship

         There are three (3) available slots for deserving PNP Personnel (100% free tuition fee at a maximum of 21 units only).                                                                                                                      

Miscellaneous Scholarships

a.       UMSSG President – free tuition fee based on the   curriculum

b.      The New Expose’ Editor–in-chief - free tuition fee                                                based   on the curriculum

c.       Mutya ng UM winners

                          i.      Mutya - free tuition fee for 21 units, one year duration.

                        ii.      1st Runner-up -75% tuition fee discounts based on 21 units, one year duration.

                      iii.      2nd and 3rd Runner–up - 50% tuition fee discounts                       based on 21 units, one year duration 

d.      ROTC Corps Commander – free tuition fee (maximum                           of 21 units)

e.       ROTC Commander Sponsor - free tuition fee (maximum of 21 units)

f.   Tuition fee waiver for employee’s dependents.

g.   Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO).

 

GENERAL GUIDELINES:

 

1.      Students desiring to avail any of the scholarships offered should fill in the official application forms, submit pertinent documents, take the necessary examinations/auditions and appear for personal interview at the Student Account Office.

2.      Scholarship shall take effect upon approval or acceptance as indicated in the documents.

3.      Scholarship is non-transferable.

4.      The grantee shall carry a minimum load of at least 18 units per semester.

5.      Unless otherwise specified, scholarships shall be for one semester subject to renewal provided the terms and conditions stipulated in the scholarship contract are complied with.

6.      The School has the right to withdraw any scholarship upon violation of any of the terms or conditions of the grant and after due notice.
